在1992年的原版動畫中，茉莉公主（Jasmine）是一個相對傳統的角色設定：她渴望愛情、自由，但大部分時間，她還是故事中的「被拯救者」。

到了2019年的真人版《阿拉丁》，有了一個明確的新目標：

讓茉莉公主從「被選擇」的人，變成「自己選擇」的人。
